Precoating Effects in Fine Steelmaking Dust Filtration

Particle emissions into the atmosphere can cause extensive damage to environment and human health. To improve efficiency in collection of submicronic particles, new filtration media appeared on market due textile technologies equipment, such as filter developed with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes; however, these are more expensive. A coating technique called precoating is a economical alternative that could enhance efficiency. This paper aimed evaluate operational parameters for micro- nanoparticle compare results those obtained from PTFE membrane. For this purpose, cycles were performed, using precoated polyester hydrated lime dolomitic limestone, membrane, steel industry ultrafine dust. The showed had longer cycle duration lower pressure drop than Therefore, was shown be great used bag filters mills because it presented high addition increasing lifespan less energy expenditure.
